Robin Hood

Today was the last performance of the Queen Theatre's Summer Camps. It's been a fun first season. It's amazing what Katie (the blonde on the left in the third row) is able to do with these youngsters in 5 short sessions where they are ready to do a choreographed, singing production on the final day to the packed audience of family and friends. Looking forward to the first full stage performance coming in October.

And Then There Were None....

Today we went to the Alley Theatre's Summer Chills production of "And Then There Were None". This is our third year to enjoy a Christie. I figured, why not enjoy some air-conditioning on someone else's nickel (inflation, you know) dime and have some cheap thrills. Worked out just fine!

Olsin's Birthday Party

Olsin turned 6 on 16 June but celebrated with a party today. On the driveway the invitees enjoyed the humongous water slide cooling off in the cold water to counteract the 100 degree heat.

Original Saltines v Original Saltines "now topped with sea salt"

Is it just me? Does anyone else see the difference in size between the cracker on the left and the one on the right?  Daily, I make 6 "sandwiches" of Saltines with peanut butter for my man's lunch. So i can tell the difference immediately when I open a new box. The one on the right is the new "original".  Just because it's now topped with sea salt, I wouldn't expect it to be reduced in size as well. This isn't the first time this has been evident. I sent Nabisco an e-mail last time with photos similar to these showing the difference in size between two boxes of plain ole "originals". They assured me that the size of the cracker had not changed. Well, something must have happened because quality control should have rejected these. I guess this is an instance when 'seeing' isn't 'believing'.

Girls' Happy Hour at Chuy's

Chuy's has come to Katy! Carolyn and I joined the girls for Happy Hour today. They had gone to see the movie, Monte Carlo, then made the short drive to Chuy's. Besides having some great conversation, we indulged in chips and several choices of dips along with suitable cooling drinks.

The Mikado

Penny and Bob accompanied us to the performance of "The Mikado" at the Wortham Theater. Was quite a convoluted plot to follow, but well performed and quite funny. We've attended performances since 2006 but missed last year as we were in Toronto. Penny and Bob went with us in 2009 when we saw "Pirates of Penzance". Afterwards, we went to dinner at Kenzo, a Japanese restaurant, right over here at La Centerra. Twas a well spent afternoon.

Little Bird, Little Bird, Fly Away Home

Baby Purple Martin that Sneed discovered whilst pulling weeds. He tried to put it on top of the fence but the little one flew toward him and landed on his shoulder. Once the mama and daddy PM started dive bombing, Sneed returned the youngster to the ground. This was all related to me after the fact. I thought maybe we've got a pet. Then thought, Nope, we've got a cat - meow = )
