Oregon, we're on your Trail...

A leisurely 300 mile drive from Woodland to Medford, Oregon, today. The worst part was the drive down the 7 mile 6% grade off the mountains into Oregon on a curvy road with more semis on the road than cars.

Not only are there a lot of mature orchards in CA, but new plantings are very evident as well

94 degrees this morning in Phoenix when we walked out to the car. 72 and windy when we stopped for the night at 1830 in Woodland, CA, this evening. It was a huge shock to our TX systems.

Always amazed at the amount of produce, nuts, and fruit grown in CA. We were on Interstate 5 for over 100 miles and both sides of the road as far as the eye can see was evidence of it all.

Finally out of TX, through NM to Phoenix, AZ

A long day for Sneed behind the wheel. Just a tad over 950 miles. Sure helps with speed limits of 80 in far West TX and 75 in parts of NM and AZ. Not a lot of 'new' photos to show as we have done this trip so many times before. So, just a sampling today to keep this up to date.

Day One of our cross country trip to Medford, Oregon. As Sneed went to work in the morning, we didn't get away until 1320 in the afternoon. As the day wore on, we realized that to go past Kerrville to find a place to stay was not a wise thing to do. Motels after Kerrville are few and far between, we know from prior experience having to keep driving until finding one as the trip grew longer and we more tired. As it turned out this was a wise decision as the first 3 motels we pulled into were booked. We finally snagged a room at a Comfort Inn.

Kerrville is on the far right along the blue line which is I-10. As one can see, there are few places to overnight once one gets out in the wide open spaces.

Whoa, and what is this? On our way to dinner at Fuddrucker's, we passed this marquee. On the way back we stopped to see the cars.

NB - the push buttons in the center of the steering wheel are the gears. Directly above and behind on the dash is the circular speedometer which spins to tell the speed.

This 1959 was trailered down from Michigan. Note the '59 headlights are in the grille; however the '58 headlights are in the fender.

 I bought some vinegar today. I looked for the expiration date as is my wont these days. It was on the base of the bottle. To say the least, I was flabbergasted at what I read.

Really? 12/2056? Hmmm, don't know if I'll be around to see if it still tastes good.

Bridgeport Bluefish vs Sugar Land Skeeters

State of the Art ballpark for the Sugar Land Skeeters' Inaugural Season

Scott is from Cy Fair, TX, and was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays. Tonight, was his first night with the Skeeters pitching only in the first inning. He gave up a 2 run homer.

Oh, this is getting bad. Another little cutie to remind me of Burke.

Despite the win over the Bluefish the night before, the Skeeters had no sting left. When the score was 12-3, I told Sneed we'd leave when the Bluefish reached 15. Didn't take long...the final score was 16-6. Needless to say the Skeeters, like the Astros, are in the bottom of their division, the Atlantic League.

Party at Dana's

Dana lives in this gorgeous home in Shoreacres just down the road from the Houston Yacht Club. The Club puts on a great fireworks display every year.

The ship channel is across the street so we had a great place to view said fireworks. Dana also had a nice buffet of brisket, burgers, and hot dogs to accompany the side dishes we all brought. Glow sticks amused the young ones.

Meadows Place Parade

The Mayor of Meadows Place invited the cast of Alice in Wonderland to participate in its 4th of July parade. The main characters were in full costume, the others in their Queen Theatre t-shirts. Nice small city parade. When we arrived in Marque for the line-up the woman said "Space 21", wish you had told us how many cars you were going to have. We had 3 cars and a pick up truck and several walking characters too. Well, you invite QT and they show up. = )
