On the Road Again...

Yes, here we go again...another adventure with Marque on America's highways and byways. This trip will take us down the Natchez Trace from its starting point in Franklin, TN, to its ending point in Natchez, MS, a total of 444 miles. But first, we have to get to the starting point...so this is the starting point of our tale.

Our story unfolds on a Saturday morning. The alarm was set for 6AM with a getaway planned around 7. However, as our internal clocks are used to awaking at 5AM, our peepers popped open then so we decided to go ahead and get on the road. A bewildered cat couldn't believe we were once again abandoning him when it hadn't even been a month since our last departure.

Here Clyde sits, alone and forlorn, underneath the picture that Dylin had colored for him.

So away we went. Truck and trailer with Marque safely ensconced on our journey to Natchez. There was method in our madness. Thus we drove to Natchez, from Texas through Louisiana to Mississppi, to unload Marque (at the motel at which we would stay at the end of the tour) and then drove Marque, leaving said truck and trailer, to the meeting point the next day.

A cropduster buzzed the road and the fields as we traveled ENE on Hwy 165 in LA. In MS the Crimson Clover was like a red velvet blanket on the berms and in the center islands.

Once we arrived in Natchez and Marque was released from the straps that bound him, we drove around the old part of town with which we were quite familiar having stayed in the area a number of times for other club activities.

Driving by Stanton Hall, one of the premier antebellum homes, we saw a house for sale that was waaaaay out of our price range. Then back on our side of the river, we were safe from the call of the croupier on the riverboat at the Isle of Capri Casino having crossed the Mississippi River bridge to LA.
