Here Sneed is putting up the banner on the gate to alert drivers that they have reached the ranch. The first car to enter was Henry's from Houston. It was only fitting as his was the oldest at the meet - a 1929 Springfield Phantom I. He drove it all the way from Houston too! Next we are in Marque enjoying them thar golden hills. The ranch was resplendent in yellow flowers this visit. At the gate, there was the brightest red Indian Paintbrush I have ever seen. Usually they are orange or dark orange. This one really made its presence known among the lighter colored flowers.
The cars as they were lined up on the grassy knoll. The car in the center is a 1937 RR 25/30. It came down by trailer from Abilene. It may be bright yellow but it's not THE Yellow Rolls-Royce of movie fame.

Here are the rest of the cars. Xavier is in the center next to his much admired 1997 Silver Spur.
We had a fantastic TX BBQ lunch with brisket, sausage, chicken, and all the fixins. Now to just lay down and enjoy the sun and the clement weather would have hit the spot. But time's a-wasting. A new feature for this year's meet was a Fox Hunt in which members could participate. A set of clues was given out on how to get back to the hotel but not anything specific. Along the way, one had to observe the roadside and answer 32 questions. Sneed and I had a lot of fun running the route a number of times and making sure our questions were easily answerable. The majority of the members decided to hightail it back to the hotel to get ready for the evening's event, however, there were 5 brave entrants. On our way back to the hotel, we saw some valiantly making U-turns as they had missed something on the hunt.
Wouldn't you know it. When the entries were scored and tallied, we had a 3 way tie for first place. Fortunately, we had prepared six tiebreaker questions which did the trick so a winner could be declared at the dinner.
We caravanned to the Miramont Country Club, a particular WOW factor for the evening's event. Before dinner we went out back and got a group photograph. The March winds were blowing so we didn't stay outside for long.

After dinner, the awards were given to the participants of the Fox Hunt. Jeff and Mary answered the most tiebreaker questions correctly and were presented THE FOX. They were definitely an enthusiastic couple and we welcome them from OK to the TX Region. Ribbons and plaques were then presented to the members denoting how their PMC (proper motor car) placed in the judging. The cars winning special awards did a driveby through the porte cochere at the front of the club. The wind was really whipping by now. We all processed back to the hotel.

Sunday morning, some members got an early start for home, some slept in, some had a Board meeting to attend. We were getting ready to leave around 11 after the Board meeting. Marque was out front but my Datsun was still in back of the hotel. Sneed helped in the 'Failure to Proceed' attempt to move this RR into position to enter the trailer as it had not started when requested. Once in position, Bruce had a wench that would pull it on to the trailer so we felt secure in leaving. Check out the video.
I followed Marque in my Z and we made it home without incident. It's always nice to come home, open the door, and say "Clyde, we're home."
